Rumoh Aceh or Aceh House is a traditional house shaped house on stilts and made of wood. According to the local community, Rumoh Aceh more than just a place to live. It has a deeper value. Rumoh Aceh has a very unique design, materials, and related closely with nature, tradition and religion.






The Striking Rumoh Aceh is made of wood as the main material, boards for floors and walls, bamboo, sago palm leaves and stems. All are managed together to build a house. Rumoh Aceh typically has 2.5 to 3 meters tall. The door only has a 120-150 cm tall, that often make us bowing to enter the house.
Rumoh Aceh attraction can be seen from the decorations. There are some types of styles and motives to decorate each part of the house. Among them are:

(1) Religious style, generally curved shape of the Holly Qur’an Verses
(2) Flora / plants, it could be in the form of leaves, roots, stems, or flowers.
(3) Fauna / animals, described as an animal that support homeowners.
(4) Nature: sky and clouds, moon, stars, and sea.
(5) etc.

The Religious values of people of Aceh and Rumoh Aceh can be seen from the un-even number of things, such as number of rooms in the house, the number of stairs, and the existence of a large earthenware bowl of water on the front of each house. This bowl is made to wash the feet before entering the house.
The room design at Rumoh Aceh symbolizes the adherence to rules. Rumoh Aceh is divided into several rooms, they are public spaces (such as the terrace), private rooms such as the House Inong, and rooms for women only (usually on the back porch.) All this habit is made to protect and respect the ethical norms of society.
